BOOTSTRAP: Sottomenu non funzionanti

Se si usa il tema bootstrap, non è possibile creare menu a 2 o piu' livelli

Esatto, ti confermo che non sono supportati.

Suggerisco di aggiungere la nota nella documentazione di cose non supportate.
