Database Ownership and DDL recreate.

Postby Ted Giles » 6 July 2021, 8:41

I have a big data set and sundry other small tables - like Users.
When I recreate the DDL, can I simply release ownership, recreate the DDL, and take back ownership to avoid the long process of recreating the large table?
It's been running for ½ hour so far and 30% through the restore.

I'm not sure I understand the question. The DDL inde creates is structure only, no data.

Now if you tell it to "Save existing data" it will reload everything--maybe that is what you mean. So yes, if that is the case if you release ownership then it won't try to reload the data since it won't "know" anything about it.

That's exactly what I meant Jack.
The peripherals are relatively small and easily recreated saving existing data.
The big tables are a pain and more eadily managed using Toad.
So now I know. Thanks.
