For Progamma: Fixing www.progamma.com for US

Postby ljwilson » 27 July 2022, 15:33

In the past, we (as in from the United States) could click on the beta change links and read them. For the past few months, if we click on these we get redirected to the instantdeveloper.com website.

Could you fix it so any links like:
http://www.progamma.com/ides/ID_TMP/D7BFB38E-1086-4BE7-BB85-4D86FE60C49E.htm
can be read outside of Italy?

Thanks...jack

I would like this fixed as well. I also do not know how you gain login access to information.

I would like to add my "Amen!" to that request. Google Translate does not do a bad job, but we have to have access to the web pages in the first place.

While we are on the subject of languages, it would really be nice if there was a little more effort put into translating training materials into English. I am on a programmers' forum which hosted a summit this summer. I spoke for a few minutes on my learning journey and spent some time introducing Instant Developer. I think there would be many more English-speaking programmers interested in INDE if more documentation, especially training videos, were available. I realize that you are facing a chicken and egg situation, but if the chicken (Programma) were to lay a few more English eggs, we would have a lot more English customer chicks around who would in turn lay more eggs!

I am with you on doing a bit more to gain exposure in the English speaking world. It would be a real benefit to the user community to have more people using the platform. I do what I can, but we need is a better way to inform more people that Instant Developer exists.

Solution: Re: For Progamma: Fixing www.progamma.com for US

We now have a solution for this, thanks to Costanza Cesanelli from Programma!

She was able to reproduce our problem by setting her Chrome Browser default language (the language the browser uses to display menus, etc., not the translate a page function) to English. So we found if I set my Chrome Browser default language to Italian, I could open these beta links. Then just right-click on the page and select translate to English (or Traduci in English) and you can read it in English.

There is a command line parameter (e.g. --lang="it", or --lang="en-US") to set your default language when you launch Chrome, but it doesn't set the language as "preferred", so it won't work on these types of links. I've attached a pdf file which includes screen shots showing how to changed the preferred language settings in Chrome to go back and forth. Very handy if you are trying for the first time to go back to English when Italian is not your native language!
