Allow paste into Visual Code editor

Postby preston » 22 September 2014, 14:28

A huge time saver would be the ability to paste into the Visual Code Editor from code copied from an outside editor.

I write a lot of code that will have names change by just one or two letters/numbers so I will copy it into an external editor that allows for very fast search and replace.

Currently in In.De I can "copy as text" then paste it back in but I then have to manually search through the code and manually make all the changes. This eats up a lot of time and allows for the possibility of a lot of mistakes.

It would be nice to be able to paste the contents of the computer clipboard into the Visual Code Editor.

At today that cannot be done. The VCE doesn't show text, as you know, but the visual code, which is a set of relationships between items of the project and of the libreries.

Converting an external text to VCE at today cannot be done.

Understood. But if you just start typing text in the VCE, it focuses on the possibilities or you can type the whole thing in and never use a suggestion. It would seem that typing text in or pasting it in should not be that different in the grand scheme of things.

Anyway, just a suggestion for the future.
