Aligning Objects

Postby john w » 1 March 2014, 17:30

It would be nice to be able to align objects between frames on a form. This would be a way to accurately, for example, to left align panels on form other than just best guess. You can do all kinds of alignment in a given frame but not between frames.

If there is a way to do this I have not found it yet.

In.de does allow to align objects between frames on a form. When you resize a panel field (or you D&D a panel field) In.de hilites in RED all borders of any panel field that matches exactly the thing you are moving (or dragging) as shown on this image:

In the image I'm resizing the Description's right border in the bottom right panel and you can see that the field is aligned with the Description's right border in the top-right panel and both top and bottom border in the bottom-left panel.

Is this what you wre asking for?

Not quite. I wanted to be able to select the item in the top frame, then select the item in the bottom frame and use the right click mouse menu to align (left, right, center) and make same (height, width, both). For me, its a far faster way of working; and for me, more accurate.

Now I understand. I usually align stuff "by hand" when the objects are in different frames... but that's because I knot that is not possible the other way :-)

I've created a new ticket (NPQ01559) in order to remember your suggestion. When it will be evaluated you will be able to follow it in the Instant Developer Roadmap.

Thanks!!

Thank you, I am so used to aligning and sizing this way, it is really quite fast once you get it down and is a nice feature.
