Newbie ? - Shift -Ctrl drag & drop

Postby john w » 5 November 2012, 14:00

I am working through the introductory course for In.de. Throughout the processes there are times when you

Simply drag and drop object
Use the Shift key when dragging an object
Use the Shift & Ctrl keys when dragging and object.

Is there a simple way to remember which method is done when?

Thanks

John W.

Hello and welcome to the Forum!
The following tips are very useful when it comes to confirm that you have chosen the right combination of shortcut keys:

Take a look at the status bar: it will describe what is going to happen when you complete the Drag and Drop operation
Enable the contextual documentation (Shift+F1) where the allowed operations are described

In total the combinations are actually no more than 10 and it does not take long to get used to them after you start using them following the above recommendations.

Thanks!

Thank you for the suggestion on the status bar. I have tried using the F1 help but it comes up in Italian not English.

Where I can, such as reading the other forum I have been using Google or Bing to translate but its slow.

Hi
Some reference topics are still in Italian as of today but this won't last for long.
Our plans for releasing the documentation in English are as follows:
November 9, 2012: 60% of the reference documentation will be in English.
December 9, 2012: 100% of the reference documentation will be in English.

Thanks
stefano

Wow! November 9 and December 9 are very close. For the English speaking development community it will be a huge benefit. I will keep a good thought that the release dates are close.

As an additional note, from the Instant Developer IDE you can access both the online contextual documentation (which will always be the most up-to-date documentation set) and the offline contextual documentation (which is installed automatically in your local drive at each main documentation release). In order to be sure you always have access to the latest documentation topics, you can enable the Remote Documentation checkbox (Tools/Options/General), which is disabled by default. Note that if this flag is enabled and you are not online, In.de will automatically open the offline topics.
In order to access the full (and most up-to-date) documentation set you can also go to: http://doc.progamma.com/eng/.
