Using existing forms with a different database

Postby Ted Giles » 3 June 2021, 13:54

I have a Proof of Concept Db and All on my local machine.
The Db is SQL.
All forms and processes are based on this local Db.
If I transfer the Tables to a Shared Server, import and take ownership in InDe, how can I use the existing Foms with the new Tables?
No changes have been made, I just need to copy the Forms and use them against the Shared Server Tables and not the local ones.
I could of course recreate the forms and roles, but I am hoping to avoid doing that.
Any ideas? Possiby/not possible?

Unless I'm missing something...as long as the table names stay the same, you just need to change the connection information for your current database in your project to match what it will be on the shared server.

Aaaah!
You missed the idiot factor!
I was unable to replicate the local instance on the shared server, so I just recreated the tables by importing the csv.
Natural uploading in my world means everything is Char 50.
So, the original had been trimmed down therefore making it different.
I was not sure if the form to Db/table connection was "name" based.

Adding another Db to the app probably did not help either.

Stiil, now I know. ?....... ( ish)
