Roles and Restrictions.

I need to restrict the Forms which the Administrator can see or access.
Using the Roles feature, I cannot add the forms I want disabled to the Admin tree - presumable it's an inheritance feature.
The Forms List shows all forms and I don't want that.

In the pic above, I don't want Admin to see Custom Search, In Progress or Between Dates but I cannot attach those to the Admin item.

The Normal and Super User list are working

Should I create a different role and apply the restrictions to that?

Whatever is the lowest number (Administrator defaults to 1) must be able to see everything, otherwise you would lock everyone out.

What I often do is renumber the roles and add/rename as needed, numbering them as 1, 10, 20, 30, etc. That way I can insert a new role (say 15) later if need be without changing any of the existing roles. Since I store the role numbers in the database changing them later is a pain.

Example:

Each role must have a unique number (constant) linked to it. Right click on each role and click "go to Admin Constant" (say for Admin). If the role name is linked properly to the constant then that will work.

If you have to create new role numbers be sure and link them with drag and drop to the role names.

I will havve to create a "pseudo" Admin role then.
Call it My Admin. The sponsor wants Admin access to the User and Pwd form only.
Good job really, as they haven't included a PK in the upload CSV - just flat data.
That will be my next hurdle with them, explaining the issues of synchronisation with their office system if they want to make the data maintainable on the web version.
I could add a PK field but there are too many records to reconfigure, so better if they do it from the start.

Thanks for sharing your methods Jack.
